The Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE), founded in 1949, is one of the national "211 Project" key universities and "985 Innovation Platform for Superiority Subjects" under the direct leadership of the Ministry of Education of China (MOE).
The School of International Trade and Economics (SITE) was established in March 2010 based on the former Department of International Trade and Economics at the School of Finance. With the support of the national key discipline in Applied Economics of the University, SITE offers academic programs, conducts scientific research and provides social service in the field of international trade and its related disciplines.
The University began to offer undergraduate programs in International Trade and Economics in 1999 and now it has developed a multi-level and completed talent training system by offering undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. programs in the fields of international trade and international business. SITE currently has four undergraduate programs, namely, International Trade and Economics, International Trade and Economics (International Trade/Financial Risk Management focus), International Business, and Trade Economics, two postgraduate programs, namely, Master of International Trade and Master of International Business (MIB), one Ph.D. program and one post-doctoral program in International Trade. One Ph.D. thesis was awarded Beijing Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation in 2008. Two master theses were awarded the National Best Theses in International Business.
